Tearoom Manager
Job Title: Tearoom Manager
Location: Longdown Activity Farm, Ashurst, Southampton
Hours: Permanent/Full-Time – with a small amount of seasonal variation
A rare opportunity to join the Longdown Activity Farm Team has arisen; we require a permanent full-time manager for our busy onsite tearoom and seasonal kiosk.
Our children’s activity farm welcomes school groups and large numbers of daily visitors to enjoy a schedule of animal activities and play opportunities.
Role and Responsibilities:
The role is five-days-a-week during the farm’s opening times. Some weekend work is required. Please note that the farm is open daily from February to the end of October, then four days a week up to Christmas, and then closed from the 23rd of December until early February.
As tearoom manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the tearoom and seasonal kiosk. You will undertake the ordering of food and beverages and ensure that the tearoom and kiosk maintain their high quality of hygiene standards.
Other tasks include but are not limited to:
Arrange the servicing of the catering equipment.
Work alongside the small team of catering assistants and encourage high standards.
Organise deliveries and collections of goods.
Maintaining records, which will be required by Environmental Health.
Our tearoom is rather small and does become congested and very busy so you will be required to work quickly and efficiently whilst maintaining a good sense of humour. There is no food prepared onsite, however demand for the coffee machine is normally flat out.
The owners will welcome new initiatives and encourage healthy food options.
Pay Rate: to be discussed at interview stage.
Qualifications:
Ideally the successful candidate will hold a Food Hygiene & Safety certificate, although this is not vital.
You will enjoy working under pressure.
You will have an excellent customer-service manner and be child-friendly, no matter how demanding the situation.
You will have had previous experience dealing with catering and cash-handling.
Most importantly, you will have a good sense of humour.
